Miami Freedom Park is an ambitious, mixed-use development centered around a 25,000-seat stadium for Inter Miami CF. Spanning 58 acres of public parks and green spaces, the project also includes a vibrant tech hub, community soccer fields, restaurants, shops, hotels, and office spaces.
Our role focused on master planning the central entertainment district and the northern commercial area, which incorporates hotels and offices. A key challenge was addressing evolving tenant needs while ensuring adaptable parking solutions for both the retail village and stadium events. By phasing the development, we enabled the stadium to open alongside initial retail and parking facilities, with temporary activation zones maintaining vibrancy as future phases progress.
Miami Freedom Park is poised to redefine this area of the city, providing much-needed leisure destinations and community amenities. Strategically located as a key transition hub between Miami International Airport and downtown, it is set to become a landmark district that enhances the city’s identity and urban fabric.
Site
The site - which is being repurposed from a golf course to a sports-retail village has an area of over 4.5 million sqft, of which only 25% is planned for retail and entertainment spaces and will be developed by phases. It is located in a prime location next to the airport and 10 - 20 minutes by car from prominent areas of the city of Miami.
Retail Village
The planning of the village is driven by the idea of exploration and discovery through curve roads and pathways, as well as promenades that lead the users to retail hubs and programs of interest.
Retail Experience
A main point of concern during the early stage was how to get people to walk to phase RV-02 (B) since they could lose interest by just glancing down the road. As we continued touching on this concern with our clients we agreed to introduce a retail hub that feels like a mall plaza that sparks curiosity, together with the possibility of introducing an anchor tenant that can help attract the users to this point. This also being a main point of approach to the site makes it a bigger argument to the introduction of this hub.
T6-8 (Office and Hotel Zone)
It was a challenge to fit the amount of buildings and square footage required by the client while making the parking work. Through a series of iterations we managed to find the right way to make this zone work without subtracting from the retail village experience.
Miami's New Major Hub
This is a one of a kind environment for the people of Miami and all it’s visitors. the User’s will find a very complete retail experience paired with the celebration of Miami’s popualr soccer team.
